1865 - 2005: Torggler, 140 years of growth, development and success

Few companies can boast experience and expertise stretching back 140 years.

Torggler was founded in 1865. Last year we celebrated 140 years of activity.  A lot of things happen in 140 years. We have seen two world wars, dramatic changes in the economy and far reaching social changes.

Torggler was founded by Georg Torggler who set up a business in Merano, Italy selling a wide variety of agricultural products and building materials such as lime, cement and bricks.

Later, at the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, Torggler added chemicals to its product palette. Further expansion followed in 1920 when the company opened the first wholesale centre for building materials in the city of Bolzano, Italy.

In 1956 the company opened its new production facility at Merano. Later, in 1964, Torggler became a joint stock company and the holding company controlling all the Group's  other companies.
