Application areas

Choose Lamiera® for

  • Its permanent elasticity, perfect seal and odourless application – thanks to its neutral cross-linking – make it indispensable for sealing and bonding metal components in sheet metal work.
  • It is also used with excellent results for elastic and waterproof sealing between pipes and plaster, between fascia boards and ceramic cladding, between sheet metal openings and walls, between flashings and chimneys, and in the installation of structures made from laminated sheet metal/aluminium and insulation panels.

Details

Lamiera It is a neutral-curing silicone sealant with specific adhesive properties on metal substrates: it is ideal for galvanised sheet metal, tinplate, copper, brass, bronze, iron, stainless steel, lead, aluminium and pre-painted sheet metal. Lamiera It adheres well to a wide variety of substrates, even porous ones. Extensive on-site experience demonstrates its exceptional durability even after severe exposure to atmospheric agents and ultraviolet rays: no traces of surface micro-cracks or chalking have been found, even in joints with over 20 years of service, thus demonstrating superior resistance to ageing compared to any other non-silicone resin-based sealant. Furthermore, Lamiera is classified as F-EXT/INT-CC according to EN 15651-1, i.e. a non-structural sealant for façade elements for both external and internal use, even in areas with cold climates.

Instructions for use

  • Prepare the surface to be sealed so that it is clean, free from rust and loose particles, degreased and dry. If prepared in this way, the surface does not require a silicone primer.
  • At the points where the sheets overlap, apply a bead of sealant approximately 1 cm wide.
  • Overlap the sheets, pressing them together.
  • Apply another bead of sealant along the entire joint and smooth it with a spatula.
  • Drill holes in the sheet metal and apply the rivets.
  • Apply more sealant to the rivets and level with the trowel.

Cleaning tools
While the solvent-based sealant is still plastic; after curing, only mechanically.

Remarks
Lamiera is not suitable for structural bonding.

Storage

Lamiera It must be stored in a cool, dry place. Under these conditions, it has a shelf life of at least 12 months. Partially used cartridges can be kept for around 3 months if kept tightly sealed.

Warnings

Silicone Lamiera is not recommended for structural bonding.
