Details

Finitura is a ready-to-use, pre-mixed, fine-grain mortar. Just add water and mix. The product formula consists of special hydraulic binders, hydrated lime, selected fine grain aggregates, adhesive resins and aerating and water repellent additives. The product is designed for use as a finish plaster on Intonaco WTA and Risan One, for indoor and outdoor applications. Mixed with water it forms a plastic, aerated plaster with excellent workability and good thixotropic properties. Easy to apply with a trowel. No sagging or chipping. Excellent adhesion and fully compatible with plaster substrates. Thanks to its special formula, when applied the product forms a porous structure which ensures a very high level of breathability. It becomes part of the plaster substrate to form a long-lasting, highly breathable finish with an excellent appearance. Finitura is available in white and grey.

Instructions for use

  1. Old substrates made from cement, cement-lime and hydraulic lime mortars and plasters: The surface to be treated must be clean and solid, without any dust, loose material or dirt of any kind. Remove all traces of oil, grease, paints and synthetic coatings. Prepare and thoroughly wet the substrate. Allow any excess surface water to evaporate.
  2. New renovating and dehumidifying plasters: Wait until the plaster is fully cured. (Allow at least one day for each millimetre of thickness of the renovating/dehumidifying plaster applied). Check that the surface of the plaster is rough enough to provide a good key. If necessary, roughen the substrate with a suitable tool. Prepare and thoroughly wet the substrate. Allow any excess surface water to evaporate.
Mix Finitura with 25 – 27% (6,25 – 6,75 litre per 25 kg bag). Mix with a mechanical stirrer (a low-speed drill with a mixer attachment) for at least 3 minutes until you have a smooth, lump-free, plastic, aerated mix. The mix prepared in this way has a pot life of about 90 minutes under normal conditions (20 °C). Higher temperatures reduce the pot life, lower temperatures increase it. Apply the mix with a float trowel or a paddle. Apply as thin a layer as possible given the roughness of the substrate. Do not apply a thickness of more than 5 mm. One layer is usually enough. On very irregular surfaces, especially at the joints with old plaster, it may be necessary to apply a second layer; apply the second layer as soon as the first layer begins to set. When the last layer has set (this takes between 20 and 30 minutes under normal conditions), finish off using a sponge float. Allow the smoothing layer to harden for at least 21 days. After this time you can paint the surface with Risan Pittura or other silosanic, silicate or lime paints provided that they are of the highly breathable type. The tools used to apply the product can be cleaned with water before the mix hardens. Once hardened, the mix must be scraped off.

Storage

Store Finitura in a dry, protected place. Unopened in its original bags, the product can be stored for at least 12 months.

Warnings

  • Do not apply Finitura to gypsum-based plasters.
  • Do not apply Finitura to plaster or brickwork which have been treated with paints or synthetic coatings.
  • Do not apply Finitura to flaking, degraded or inconsistent plasters or substrates or where surface irregularities exceed 5 mm.
  • Do not use Finitura to make thick layers of plaster.
  • Do not mix the product with other binders such as cement, hydraulic lime, gypsum, etc.
  • Do not add water when the mix has already started to set. Only mix the amount of product you can use within the pot-life.
  • Do not apply Finitura when the temperature is too high or when there are strong winds. Protect from direct sunlight. Mix with cold water. Apply the product in the cooler hours of the day. Protect the surface from wind.
  • Do not apply Finitura at temperatures below +5 °C or above +35 °C.
  • Do not paint Finitura surfaces with non-breathing paints. Do not cover with non-breathing synthetic coatings.
