Bond&Finish is a premixed mortar made with special hydraulic binders, selected aggregates and polymers, with excellent breathability and high adhesive strength, GP CSIV W2 classified according to EN 998-1. For the laying and bonding of calcium-silicate panels, as well as for the subsequent finishing operation and smoothing of fiberglass reinforcing mesh. An extremely workable mix is created when the product is mixed with water. The mix is very easy to apply using a trowel, plastering trowel, or a straight edge, even vertically and/or overhead, without sagging or waste, and ensures excellent adhesion to the substrate and the panel. Bond&Finish has very low tension and therefore can even be applied at a greater thickness and prevents hairline cracking.

Instructions for use

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE
The surfaces to be covered must be solid and regular yet sufficiently rough, clean and free of oils and grease, dust, loose material, dirt of any kind and any traces of old paint. The surfaces must also be sufficiently cured and free of significant shrinkage. Any surface blooming must be carefully removed using mechanical cleaning equipment. Obvious surface irregularities and eroded or deteriorated points must be repaired and filled using a special mortar. Substrates that have the clear presence of mould and microbiological growth must be previously treated with the Deep Cleaner mould removal product. Then treat the soffit panel with a coat of Shield. Before applying the adhesive, wait a few hours – depending on weather conditions – to allow Shield to complete its hydrophobising function

PREPARATION OF THE PRODUCT
Mix Bond&Finish with 29-31% of clean water (equal to 7.25 – 7.75 litres per 25 kg bag). It is recommended that you pour all the water into a special container then slowly add the powder with constant mixing using a mechanical device (low-speed drill with mixer attachment). Mix until a uniform mixture without lumps is obtained. Make sure any lumps on the sides or the bottom of the container are mixed in properly. Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes then mix again briefly. If necessary adjust the consistency by adding a little more water. The mixture has a pot-life of about 1 hour under normal conditions (20 °C). The pot-life is shortened at higher temperatures and lengthened at lower ones.

APPLICATION AS A BONDING ADHESIVE
Apply the product using a notched trowel, spreading it over the entire rear surface of the panel. Now put the panel on the substrate so that it adheres properly then adjust its position. The finishing operation can be performed after 24 hours.

APPLICATION AS A LEVELLING/FINISH PRODUCT
Apply the product using a plastering trowel, properly spreading over the entire surface of the installed panels at the desired thickness; then press the Torggler T4 fiberglass mesh into the fresh product; after a minimum of 24 hours a final coat of mortar can be applied to completely cover the mesh.

Contact the Torggler technical service department service if you have doubts or questions about the system and/or successive steps. The tools used to apply Bond&Finish can be cleaned with water before the mix hardens. Once hardened, the mix must be scraped off.

Storage

Store Bond&Finish in a dry, protected place. Unopened in its original bags, the product can be stored for at least 12 months.

Warnings

  • Do not mix Bond&Finish with other binders such as cement, hydraulic lime, gypsum, etc.
  • Do not use on gypsum or anhydrite-based substrates or on metal or wood substrates.
  • Never reconstitute the product with additional water and do not use the mixed product after it has already started to set. Therefore, always prepare quantities of mix which can be used within the pot life.
  • Do not apply Bond&Finish at a thickness greater than 5 mm.
  • Do not apply Bond&Finish when the temperature is below +5°C and above +35°C
  • Do not use the system for outdoor applications
  • Do not cover the system with waterproof finishes, paints or coatings
