Details

Rinzaffo is a ready-to-use premixed mortar, to be mixed only with water, and based on special cements, selected silicone aggregates, specific adhesives and additives, specifically designed for rendering before the application, indoors and outdoors, of Intonaco WTA,and Deidro. After mixing with water, you have a mix which is fluid, easy to use and easy to apply by hand or using a plastering machine.

Instructions for use

Preparation
The surface to be treated must be clean and solid, without any dust, loose material or dirt of any kind. Remove all traces of oil, grease, paints and synthetic coatings. Wet the surface to be waterproofed until saturated then allow the excess water to evaporate or remove it using a sponge. Make sure any surface water film is removed. If the masonry is old and suffering from rising damp, scrape off the old plaster completely to a height of at least 50 cm above the line of damp. Remove all traces of crumbling sealing mortar between brick courses or in between stone slabs or blocks and wash thoroughly with a jet of water under pressure. Large cavities may be filled with brick fragments and ordinary plastering mortar. Wet the surface to be waterproofed until saturated then allow the excess water to evaporate or remove it using a sponge. Make sure any surface water film is removed. Where salts (normally sulphates and chlorides but, more rarely, also nitrates) have effloresced, the efflorescence must be scraped off and the wall suitably treated with Antisale. This liquid product must be applied as is in a single abundant coat (approximately 0.3 to 0.5 litres per m2 ) using a brush or low-pressure sprayer. Under highly saline nitrate conditions, apply an abundant coat of Promular Silicon. When Antisale or Promular Silicon are applied, wait at least 24 hours before applying the rendering.

Mixing the product
For manual applications mix Rinzaffo with approximately 15-17% water (approx. 3,75 – 4,25 litres per 25 kg bag) using a mechanical stirrer (a low-speed drill with a mixer attachment or a mortar mixer) for approximately 2-3 minutes. Mix to a smooth, lumpfree, plastic, semi-fluid consistency. The mix prepared in this way has a pot life of about 60 minutes under normal conditions (20 °C). Higher temperatures reduce the pot life, lower temperatures increase it.

Application
Apply with a trowel leaving it as a keying coat with a max. thickness of 4-5 mm. Do not smooth with a trowel or straight edge; the rendering coat must remain rough to provide a good key for the next plaster coat. 2/4 To apply by machine: follow the plastering machine manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure the plastering machine is suitable for use by means of preliminary tests, consulting the machine manufacturer and/or our Technical Support Service. The next coat of  Intonaco WTA, Dp 501 or other type of generic plaster should be applied when the keying coat is set but not hardened. The time required for the keying coat to set varies in accordance with ambient temperature and humidity as well as the condition of the substrate. This time can be more than 12 hours in the event of substrates which are not very absorbent and/or those treated with  ANTISALE or PROMURAL SILICON. The time may even be greater than 24 hours in the event of low temperatures and high relative humidity.  The tools used for applying the mortar may be cleaned with water before  it hardens. Once hardened, the mortar must be scraped off.

Storage

Store Rinzaffo in a dry, protected place. Unopened in its original bags, the product can be stored for at least 12 months.

Warnings

  • Do not apply Finitura to gypsum-based plasters.
  • Do not mix RInzaffo with other binders such as cement, hydraulic lime, gypsum, etc.
  • Do not apply Rinzaffo at temperatures below +5 °C or above +35 °C.
  • Given the type, technical characteristics and performance of the product, which is perfectly compatible with renovation systems and/or traditional plasters which have low mechanical resistance, the product should not be used as an adhesive coat for cementitious mortars with high levels of mechanical resistance such as mortars used to renovate concrete and reinforced concrete.
