Details

Waterblock is a ready-to-use, non-silicone, mineral solvent-based, colourless water-repellent impregnating agent for hydrophobic impregnation and surface protection of walkable floors. Waterblock penetrates the substrate and reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to form an internal water-repellent barrier. This reaction takes place as the solvent evaporates from the vehicle. Waterblock leaves no surface film and does not alter the colour or characteristics of the treated material. The depth of penetration depends on the hygroscopic characteristics of the substrate, bearing in mind that more porous materials have a greater capacity for absorption. This allows protection over time without the risk of surface deterioration. Waterblock prevents water permeability but allows water vapour transpiration. This is possible because the microporosity of the substrate is not completely occluded. In fact, it is well known that water molecules in the liquid state are aggregated, while in the gaseous state they have ample freedom of movement. Laboratory tests show that treatment with Waterblock responds to this principle, just as it has been observed that some treated surfaces (even after a few days) can release traces of moisture with consequent surface deposits of salts. This does not mean that the treatment is ineffective, it is simply a phenomenon due to the moisture contained in the sub-layer which, as it evaporates, tends to release certain salts (such as sodium sulphate and potassium sulphate) that crystallise on the surface.

Instructions for use

Preparation for application
Clean and degrease the surfaces to be treated thoroughly. If necessary, wash with water and detergent and wait until dry. Make sure the surfaces are completely dry before proceeding with treatment to allow for adequate absorption of the product.
Any hollow joints or deteriorated floor joints must be grouted before treatment.

Istructions of application
Waterblock is a ready-to-use product. It is applied with a brush, scrub brush or spray in two consecutive coats fresh on fresh, making sure that the entire surface has been well impregnated. On poorly absorbent floors (frost-resistant ceramics, polished or honed stone, etc.), after about 30 minutes, any residues of non-absorbed product must be carefully wiped off with a clean cloth or soft absorbent paper to avoid surface stains (take temperature, sun and wind into account). Complete absorption takes place within a few hours depending on the porosity of the substrate, temperature and humidity.

Storage

Waterblock should be stored in a dry, cool place. In unopened original packaging it will keep for at least 12 months.

Warnings

  • Do not add or dilute the product with any substance that may alter its basic characteristics.
  • Do not carry out treatments at temperatures below + 5 °C or above +35 °C.
  • Do not carry out treatments under unfavourable climatic conditions (temperature, sun, wind, humidity, imminent rain, etc).
  • It is recommended to carry out the treatment during the early hours of the day to allow adequate absorption of the product before any moisture during the night.
  • Do not work in case of or imminent rain.
  • Any cracks and/or fissures larger than approx. 1 mm must be adequately sealed before treatment.
  • Wait for complete absorption before walking on surfaces (approx. 24 hours).
  • Waterblock contains flammable solvents. The necessary precautions required for flammable products must therefore be taken when storing, handling and applying the mineral filler. Do not expose to temperatures >30°C, direct sunlight, sources of heat, open flames or other sources of ignition.
  • Do not use in unventilated areas.
  • Follow the information on the safety data sheet.

Waterblock is a specific product for the waterproofing treatment of walkable surfaces subject to water infiltration (balconies and terraces). It is suitable for ceramic floors, porcelain stoneware, stone, klinker, terracotta, mineral surfaces and wood. Waterblock is a penetrating, safe and effective product that leaves no surface marks and does not alter the material characteristics and colour of the treated surface. It has proven efficacy for long periods (up to 10 years) without loss of functionality.
