A fast-curing, single-component polyurethane adhesive for installing plasterboard and insulation panels in general.

  • Excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates, both porous and non-porous
  • Solves any adhesion problems on smooth or textured tiles (adhesion to polystyrene in accordance with ETAG 004)
  • Extremely fast installation: after 2 hours, it can be anchored with wall plugs and skim-coated immediately afterwards
  • Significant reduction in labour costs and overall costs: one can covers approximately 12 square metres of insulation boards
  • Prevents the formation of thermal bridges
  • Compatible with polysulphide in double-glazed units
  • Minimal mess on site

Application areas

Choose Panel F for

  1. Work to re-clad internal walls by bonding plasterboard panels
  2. Thermal insulation of external walls, from the inside, by bonding insulated composite panels (plasterboard + EPS or plasterboard + XPS)
  3. Bonding of various types of insulation panels (EPS, XPS, PU, rock wool or glass wool, etc.) as part of the installation of external thermal insulation composite systems
  4. Thermal insulation of external walls below ground level

Details

Panel F is a fast-curing, single-component polyurethane adhesive supplied in an aerosol can, specifically developed and tested for bonding various types of insulation panels. It is also used in the field of below-ground perimeter insulation and thermal insulation in general. Thanks to its low post-expansion and the high consistency and adhesion of the fresh adhesive, it is possible to install panels of various types and thicknesses, such as EPS, XPS, PU, rock wool or glass wool, etc. on various types of substrate (mineral substrates, brick, concrete, render, timber, metal, glass, plastic, bituminous membranes – whether slate-faced or aged/oxidised) in accordance with the procedures set out in ETAG 004 for external thermal insulation systems. Used to fill any cracks resulting from the installation of the panels, thanks to its structure of particularly uniform and fine cells, it contributes to acoustic and thermal insulation without creating any discontinuities.

Instructions for use

Substrates must be free from oil, grease and dust. Particularly when applying to non-porous substrates, to ensure complete cross-linking, it may be helpful to dampen the surfaces beforehand to provide the fresh product with the necessary moisture.

  1. Shake the can for at least 15 seconds before use and repeat this after any breaks in application.
  2. Remove the protective cap. Turn the can upside down so that the valve is facing downwards and screw it onto the dispensing gun. Aim the gun nozzle in the desired direction and press the trigger.
  3. Apply the adhesive to the back of the panel, forming a perimeter bead approximately 2–3 cm wide, 3 cm from the edge. Apply a bead of the same size in the centre in a ‘W’ shape.
  4. Wait one minute before positioning the panel on the wall: this waiting period is necessary to prevent any post-expansion of the adhesive – however slight – from causing noticeable misalignment between the installed panels. The panels must, however, be installed within the product’s surface film formation time. As a rough guide, this time is 3 minutes at 20 °C, but for precise verification, it is advisable to carry out a test on site to prevent a hardened surface film from forming, which would render the adhesive ineffective.
  5. Align the panel with the surrounding ones using a fixed base to prevent it from slipping afterwards.
  6. Depending on the temperature and humidity at the time of installation, the adhesive will have set sufficiently within 15–45 minutes; therefore, after 2 hours, any excess adhesive can be trimmed and sanded down.
  7. When installing external insulation boards, proceed with mechanical fixings in accordance with the relevant standards after 2 hours.
  8. If the wall to be clad with plasterboard (whether insulated or not) is not perfectly flush, to ensure correct alignment of the boards and thus the creation of a smooth, flat façade, mark out reference points and use wedges and screws to adjust the position, leaving them in place until the adhesive has set (1 hour is normally sufficient).

Cleaning tools
Traces of uncured Panel F, for example on clothing, window frames, etc., can be cleaned with foam solvent. The cured product can only be removed mechanically (by scraping or sanding). Any residue in the valve can be easily removed once it has fully cured. This product contains flammable components, so use it only in well-ventilated areas.

Storage

Store in a cool place in an upright position. Take great care to avoid storing the product horizontally, as this will cause deposits to form rapidly beneath the valve, which will irreparably compromise the extrusion of the adhesive. Panel F remains stable for at least 12 months if stored upright, in a cool place (at temperatures between 15 and 25 °C), in a dry place, in its original unopened packaging.

Warnings

Panel F, whilst extremely effective from a technical, practical and performance perspective when installing external thermal insulation composite systems, does not preclude the use of traditional mechanical fixing systems (anchor bolts, etc.) which ensure the panels are anchored within the thickness of the substrate to prevent the risk of the adhesive failing should the surface not be sufficiently solid and stable.
When bonding to new bituminous membranes, use the Bitumen Seal adhesive/sealant.
The Panel F canister is a pressurised container. Read the information on the safety data sheet carefully.

The yield of the adhesive is highly dependent on the temperatures of the cylinder and the ambient environment. At low temperatures, both the pressure at which the fresh material emerges from the valve and the yield of the cured product are significantly reduced. To achieve a good yield, a cylinder temperature of approximately 20 °C is recommended. Consumption depends on the type of materials to be installed and the installation method: as a guide, one cylinder is sufficient to bond between 8 and 12 m² of insulation boards and up to 3 plasterboards. The figures given refer to laboratory conditions and may vary considerably depending on actual application and environmental conditions.
