Rasoepoxy

Rasoepoxy It is a two-component epoxy system, consisting of epoxy resins. It is designed to cure even on damp surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, forming a compact, waterproof layer with high abrasion resistance. It is suitable for subsequent coating with epoxy or polyurethane finishes, or with waterproofing products from the Polyurea range.

  • Excellent adhesion to fresh or hardened concrete, whether dry or damp.
  • Fine-grained water-based epoxy resin mortar for levelling and finishing concrete, concrete blocks, mortar and stone surfaces.
  • Good adhesion to damp surfaces.
  • Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • Quick to apply and cost-effective.
  • Can be overcoated with any epoxy, polyurethane or PMMA resin system.
  • Excellent protection of concrete against aggressive environments.
  • Operating temperature in air from -30°C to +90°C.

Application areas

Choose Rasoepoxy for

  • Concrete structures in poor condition, including floors and walls, even if they lack a vapour barrier.
  • As a temporary moisture barrier (minimum thickness 2 mm) for the installation of epoxy, polyurethane or PMMA resin coatings that require a dry substrate.
  • Pore-filling skim coat to level out micro-pitting in concrete.
  • Smoothing of balcony floors as a waterproof and frost-resistant layer, prior to tiling.

Details

A two-component epoxy fine mortar suitable for skimming and protecting damp concrete substrates—both vertical and horizontal—that are subject to moisture, where good chemical resistance and high abrasion resistance are required.

Instructions for use

Substrate preparation
Substrate preparation is essential; therefore, the surface to be treated must be free from any contaminants, dry, sound, and have a tensile strength of at least 1.5 MPa. In all cases, the floor surface must be prepared by milling, shot-blasting, grinding or sanding, depending on the type of surface. Any free or standing water originating from the substrate, previous washing operations or weather conditions must be removed or dried using appropriate methods.

Product preparation
A two-component product to be mixed thoroughly at the time of use with a low-speed propeller mixer. RASOEPOXY can be used diluted with water (maximum 3%) or mixed with quartz in a ratio of 1:0.5. Mix all of component B with component A for a few minutes until a homogeneous, lump-free mass of uniform colour is obtained, taking care to avoid air bubbles.

Application
The first coat of Rasoepoxy must be applied with a trowel to seal all pores, taking care to distribute the desired quantity accurately, if necessary mixed with approx. 10% of 0.1–0.5 mm quartz. The second finishing coat must be applied as supplied. Trowelling is not recommended if a subsequent protective epoxy or polyurethane coating is planned; in this case, sanding will be necessary.

Cleaning tools
Tools must be cleaned with water after use.

Storage

When kept in its original sealed packaging, stored in a dry, sheltered place at a temperature between +10°C and +35°C, the product has a shelf life of 12 months. Keep away from frost.

Warnings

Do not apply ‘Rasoepoxy’ directly to:

  • surfaces with a film of water on the surface;
  • dusty, crumbly or unstable substrates;
  • anhydrite or gypsum-based substrates;
  • existing gypsum-based skim coats;
  • cracks that may move, as the product is rigid and could therefore crack.
