Epox Ripresa
Two-component epoxy adhesive for concrete casting joints.
Discover more
Epox Ripresa is a two-component adhesive made of a pure, slightly thickened epoxy resin and a special hardener with hydrophilic properties. Low-viscosity, slightly thixotropic adhesive, mainly suitable for bonding horizontal surfaces and concrete casting joints. It can also be spread on damp substrates with a long-handled scrubbing brush or a hard brush. The fluidity of the resins and the polar properties of the hardener guarantee excellent penetration and adhesion on porous cement-based substrates.
Preparation for use
The concrete must be pre-treated, either mechanically (by sandblasting or brushing), or chemically (washing with 10% hydrochloric acid) or with water jet. For sound, solid and perfectly clean surfaces, a treatment with hydrochloric acid is sufficient: leave it in place for about 30 minutes to remove the pure cement dust and to brighten the surface, then rinse with water and spread the adhesive only after the complete removal of water from the surfaces. If there are traces of oils, waxes, release agents or other residues of organic dirt on the surface, it is necessary to remove the dirt mechanically, by sandblasting, or with a steel brush. Then wash vigorously with water and apply the adhesive only after complete removal of water.
Product preparation
Intimately mix the two pre-dosed components into their original containers then pour component B into component A and mix with an electric mixer without introducing air until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Use a fine-tooth trowel to obtain a uniform thickness. On concrete casting joints the adhesive is applied with a long-handled scrubbing brush or a hard brush.
Instructions for use
Epox Ripresa must be applied on both surfaces to be bonded. Assemble the elements within the open time limits. On concrete casting joints wait for the adhesive to harden (approx. 30 minutes) and then perform the casting or restoration; this is to limit to a minimum the possibility of adhesive removal during mechanical compaction of the fresh casted materials. The workability time (pot-life) for one kilogram of mixture is approx. one hour at +20 °C. At higher temperatures or with larger quantities the workability time is considerably shortened. This adhesive must not be used at temperatures below +5 °C. The adhesive open time (workability of the adhesive spread on the bonding surface) is approx. two hours under normal conditions.
Cleaning
Tools can be cleaned with water, preferably hot.
When stored at a temperature between +5 °C and +30 °C in its original sealed packaging Epox Ripresa is stable for at least 18 months.
