Fast Screed is a premixed cementitious mortar based on hydraulic binders, additives and selected aggregates, with semi-rapid drying setting, applicable with a moist earth consistency, classified as CT C25 F4 according to EN 13813. It can be used for both new construction and renovation work, for the creation of screeds in the preparation, levelling and/or creation of floor slopes before laying ceramic and/or marble, natural and artificial stone, wood and parquet, PVC, linoleum, resin flooring, waterproofing systems, etc.
Preparation for installation
The substrate must be dry and free of dust and dirt. In the case of thin-bed screeds (20 to 40 mm thick), an anchoring slurry should be applied, made to a fluid consistency with a mixture of water, Neoplast Latex and cement in the ratio of 1 part water, 1 part Neoplast Latex and 2 parts cement, and applied in a continuous, uniform layer (approximately 2-3 mm) with a brush, broom or trowel. In order to ensure perfect adhesion, Fast Screed must be laid on the mortar while it is still fresh (wet-on-wet technique) or, for floors subject to high mechanical stress, a bonding bridge must be created using a two-component epoxy adhesive for concrete repairs, Epox Ripresa, diluted 1:1 with water. The bonding bridge made with Epox Ripresa, applied continuously to cover the entire surface, guarantees an effective result in terms of vapour barrier/brake. For self-supporting screeds, place a decoupling layer such as polyethylene sheeting before installation, while in the case of rising damp, this application must include suitable waterproof membranes/sheaths capable of providing an adequate vapour barrier. These membranes must have a nominal Sd value equal to or greater than 1,500 m. In perimeter areas and in the case of vertical elements present within the flooring, install a perimeter decoupling strip approximately 4 to 8 mm thick.
Product preparation
Mix Fast Screed with the appropriate amount of water, approx. 9% equal to 2.25 l per 25 kg bag, using a machine (with a special mixing pump), in a concrete mixer, planetary mixer and/or, in the case of small quantities, by hand. The mixtures must be laid within a maximum of one hour after mixing.
Installation instructions
Prepare the levelling strips at the desired height, then spread the mixture and compact it properly, trowelling it to obtain the best surface finish. In the case of low-thickness screeds (starting from 4 cm) and/or in areas overlapping pipes, wiring and technical systems, a suitable screed mesh must be inserted (the thickness of the screed above the mesh must in any case be greater than or equal to 2 cm). In addition to perimeter joints, interruptions/division joints should be provided to divide the surface into modules, the dimensions of which vary depending on whether the work is carried out indoors or outdoors. In any case, these dimensions must comply with current technical regulations.
Cleaning
The equipment used for installation can be cleaned with water before the product hardens; afterwards, only mechanical cleaning will be possible.
Fast Screed should be stored in a dry, sheltered place. It can be kept for at least 6 months in its original sealed packaging (soluble CrVI content below 2 ppm).
