Details

Silicone Neutral has an insuperable resistance to aging, so much so that even in joints that are 20 years old there are no traces of surface hairline cracks and flaking, in spite of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays and atmospheric agents. It adheres perfectly to a great variety of substrates, especially non-porous, but also to concrete and wood, and guarantees permanent elasticity and a perfect seal even without primer. Thanks to its neutral cross-linking skin-over, it does not emit unpleasant odours during application, and  releases no acid or base substances that might corrode metal substrates, and does not attack paints. Silicone Neutral is classified as a non-structural sealant for glazing (type G) in compliance with EN 15651-2.

Instructions for use

  1. The sides of the joint must be clean, degreased and dry. With porous substrates it is recommended to first treat with Silicon Primer.
  2. Apply adhesive tape along the sides of the joint.
  3. Insert the pre-form.
  4. Extrude an abundant quantity of sealant
  5. Smooth off with a damp paint scraper within 5 minutes of application, exerting enough pressure to remove any air bubbles.
  6. Remove the adhesive tape immediately after smoothing.

Cleaning of tools
While the sealant is in the plastic state use solvents; following setting clean only mechanically.

Storage

Neutral must be stored in a cool, dry place. Stored in these conditions the product will keep for at least 12 months. Partly used cartridges can be stored for approx. 3 months provided they are tightly closed.

Warnings

Silicone Neutral is not suitable for structural bonding. Not suitable for marble or natural stone substrates. In this case use Silicone Marble or Universal.Silicone Neutral is not advised for use in sanitary environments such as bathrooms, kitchens, pools, shower booths etc. In these case Silicone Window & Sanitary is preferable, or Universal, with the anti-fungi and bacteriostatic additives that make them particularly resistant to moulds.

Silicone Neutral is successfully used in seals subject to differentiated movements between the glazing and the facade as it elastically connects the window or door to the wall and absorbs, without detaching, the movement of the confining construction members caused by thermo-hygrometric dilations or atmospheric stresses both vibrational and mechanical. It thus guarantees a long-lasting perfect seal against water and air, and reduces heat loss. Neutral is compliant with UNI 11673-1, “Fitting doors and windows Part 1: project verification requirements and criteria”, and is therefore the ideal silicone-based sealant not only for aluminium but also for wood or PVC windows.
