Discover more
The Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m is a membrane consisting of a polyurethane film laminated on both sides with glass fibre mesh, which, when correctly installed under tiles, guarantees a reduction in damage caused by screed shrinkage and thermal or physical movements in the substrate.
Preparation work prior to installation
The substrate to be treated must be clean, free of oil and in good condition.
Installation instructions
Before installation, cut the Torggler Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m sealing and decoupling membrane to size with scissors or a craft knife. Then apply a cementitious adhesive mortar C2 in accordance with EN 12004, such as Tile 480 or Tile 250, to the substrate using a 6 mm notched trowel and then lay the cut sealing membrane into the adhesive mortar while it is still fresh. Smooth the membrane with a smoothing trowel so that no air pockets form under the membrane. When bonding the sealing membrane with adhesive mortar, lay the individual membranes edge to edge. The joints between the membranes must then be covered with suitable PP tape. To do this, apply Aquatech liquid foil or Flex 2K or Flexistar sealing slurry, embed the sealing tape in the fresh sealant and smooth it with a smoothing trowel so that no cavities form under the sealing tape. PP Tape sealing tape must be used in the connection areas, whereby the Corner Tissue 90° and Corner Tissue 270° inner and outer corners must first be embedded in the Aquatech liquid membrane or Flex 2K or Flexistar sealing slurry. If no sealing effect is required when processing Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m, but only decoupling is needed, Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m should be processed overlapping and without PP Tape sealing tape. Tiles and slabs can be laid on the wall immediately after the sealing has been completed. On floors, allow approx. 24 hours for the Tile 480 or Tile 250 adhesive mortar to harden. Can also be used on wooden substrates, provided they are solid and stable, after treatment with Multigrip adhesive primer. All suitable Torggler products for standard-compliant application are listed in the ‘Test Report’.
Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m has no minimum shelf life, but to maintain its functionality and performance, it must be stored in a cool, dry and protected environment. However, it is recommended that Bridge Mat 1000 mm – 50 m be used within 24 months of purchase.
