Transparent primer for silicone sealants, based on siloxane resins hardened by solvent evaporation, for priming the sides of expansion joints subject to high stress or where adhesion may be difficult.
The sides of the joint must be dry, solid, clean, degreased, consistent and free of loose particles. Place the self-adhesive paper tape along the edges and apply Primer Silicone with a brush only to the sides of the joint. The coating must form a bubble-free film; do not over-apply, a full brushstroke on each side is enough. Wait at least 30 minutes, but not more than 12 hours, so that the solvents evaporate. Simply tap lightly to make sure that the treated surface is not sticky, before inserting the backfill bead into the bottom of the joint and then extruding the sealant.
Store in a fresh and dry place, protected from frost and heat. In the original packaging and at temperatures below 27 °C it will keep for at least 6 months. Once the can has been opened, if the container is half-empty, pour the remainder into smaller containers.

Supplied in a convenient metal can, Primer Silicone is ready to use and does not require further dilution. It is compatible with all silicone sealants regardless of the specific chemical nature of the product (neutral or acetic). Particularly suitable for application on absorbent substrate or surfaces of unknown composition, such as materials treated with Teflon-coated paints. Applied beforehand on the sides of the joint, it improves the adhesion of the sealant, making it more efficient against physical and mechanical stress, even when immersed.
