Details

BW 200 is a liquid bituminous water-based elastomeric waterproofing agent containing bitumen, inert fillers, elastomeric resins, additives. Suitable for waterproofing both horizontally and vertically concrete and cement surfaces in general, gypsum, metal and glass, slated membranes or old bituminous coverings to be restored, plaster and plasterboard, wooden roofs, ceramic floors, bathrooms, showers, vases and flower boxes.

Instructions for use

Preparation for use
Make sure that detached parts, brittle or non-adherent parts, paint, rust, dust, release agent oils are removed and thoroughly clean surfaces that must be solid and dry. BW 200 can also be applied on slightly damp surfaces. The substrates to be treated must be mature and cured and must not present defects or irregularities that lead to the application of an excessive thickness of product and that compromise regular drying. Waterproofing parts with b.p. membranes must be carried out before installing the membrane (reversing the installation phases must be avoided). Check that there is no rising damp or water counterthrust. Apply at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C; avoid extreme hot and cold conditions during application and drying of the film.

Instructions for use
BW 200 can be applied with a roller, brush, spray, long-handled scrubbing brush, masonry trowel or toothed trowel. Application in two coats is recommended. Apply the second coat when the first one is completely dry. On surfaces larger than 10 m², critical points or mechanically stressed substrates we recommend reinforcing BW 200 with suitable Torggler NT50 non-woven polyester reinforcement buried in the first coat while still fresh. Apply BW 200 on new roofs with membranes without mineral finish only after a coat of Torggler Black Hydro Easy diluted to 10%. Wash tools immediately after use with water. After hardening BW 200 should be removed with hot water or thinner.

Storage

Store BW 200 in a dry and sheltered place in the original packaging. Do not expose the packages to temperatures below +5 °C. It will keep for at least 12 months. PROTECT FROM FROST.

Warnings

Avoid applying BW 200 on surfaces subject to water stagnation.
Do not apply on very hot substrates that would cause negative consequences on the cohesion and adhesion of the product to the substrate.
In case of application on polymer bitumen membranes or bituminous coverings, check the adhesion of BW 200 before proceeding with the application.
It is important that the application takes place at an ambient temperature between +5 °C and +35 °C. Extreme hot and cold conditions and adverse weather conditions should be avoided during application. The still wet layer can be washed away by rainwater or ruined by dew and frost.
BW 200 may be walked on occasionally in cases of occasional maintenance.

BW 200 is suitable for waterproofing and protecting, both vertically and horizontally:

  • Concrete: foundations, cement surfaces in general, gypsum
  • Metal and glass
  • B.p. slated membranes or old bituminous coverings to be restored *
  • Plasters and plasterboard
  • Wooden roofs
  • Ceramic floors, bathrooms, showers, vases and flower boxes.

BW 200 can be used as a primer coat for the laying of:

  • Cement-based materials such as tile adhesives (with the CE mark: EN 12004 type C).
  • Protective cement plasters in the case of foundations.
  • Cement-based mortar for roof tiles in the case of pitched roofs.

In addition, BW 200 diluted to 50% can be used as a dust proof primer when bonding insulation panels to porous substrates.

* NOTE: Connect the b.p. membranes with other elements only on slated membranes.
