Stop
Very fast-setting pre-mixed mortar.
Discover more
Stop is a single-component, premixed, gray-colored cementitious mortar based on fast-setting and hardening special cements, selected aggregates and specific additives, specially formulated to plug localized irruptions of water, even under pressure, to block gushes and to waterproof substrates subject to heavy oozing.
Preparation for use
Surfaces treated by application of Stop must be clean and sturdy. The areas where water comes out such as holes and cracks must be widened (at least up to a few centimetres). The widened areas should be shaped like a swallow tail for better keying and support of the water-proofing mortar.
Product preparation
Mix Stop with approximately 24 – 26% of water and stir vigorously using a paddle to obtain a smooth paste. Use only a few hundred grams of the product at a time when preparing the mortar mix. Wait for the paste to tone up (from 30 seconds to 1 minute under normal conditions).
Istructions for use
Use gloves for protection and then manually form a plug from the mortar. Push the mortar into the crack or hole and press the plug for a few minutes without moving your hands until Stop takes hold and blocks the water infiltration. Smooth the plug by removing any excess mortar. When plugging larger areas affected by infiltration of pressurised water, start the application of Stop from the point where there is less water pressure and move towards the point of maximum infiltration. Insert a plastic hose at the point of maximum infiltration to collect the water. At a later date (usually after 1 day and in any event after any plastering is completed) remove the drainage hose and apply a final plug using Stop. Setting times are strongly affected by the temperature of the product and ambient temperature. Lower temperatures mean slower setting times for Stop whereas higher temperatures increase setting times.
Stable for at least 12 months if stored unopened in original packaging.
