Instructions for use
Preparation for installation
Surfaces must be clean and sound, free from oil, grease, dust, loose material and general dirt, and the substrate must be suitably roughened. Any residues of formwork release agent must be thoroughly removed. Remove any loose, crumbling or unstable parts until sound and stable substrate is reached. Wash the entire surface to be treated with pressurised water to remove all traces of dust or other loose material. In the case of highly absorbent substrates, wet the surface beforehand.
Product preparation
Mix ‘Multimix Evo’ with 20–23% clean water (equivalent to 5.50–6.00 litres per 25 kg bag) as follows: pour almost all the required water into a suitable container, then slowly add the powdered product, simultaneously mixing the mixture as it forms using a low-speed drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle. Once all the powder has been added, pour in the remaining water and mix until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps, taking particular care to remove any lumps of unmixed material from the sides and bottom of the container. Leave to rest for about 5 minutes, then stir briefly. The mixture prepared in this way remains workable in the mixing container for about 30 minutes under normal conditions (at +20 °C); higher temperatures shorten the workability time, whilst lower temperatures extend it. In the case of substrates where adhesion is difficult, a preliminary application of Multigrip is recommended.
Application instructions
Apply ‘Multimix Evo’ using a notched trowel for skim-coating or with a trowel, spatula and/or straight edge for thicker applications (never exceed a total thickness of 50 mm). The product may also be applied using a suitable rendering machine, provided it has been correctly set up. In the case of renovation work or, more generally, where surfaces are discontinuous, uneven and/or cracked, it is advisable to apply the product in two successive coats, embedding an alkali-resistant fibreglass reinforcement mesh between coats. Once the applied product has set thoroughly (under normal conditions, approx. 30 minutes; times may vary depending on environmental conditions and the type of substrate), finish with a trowel or sponge float, depending on the desired finish. If necessary, after 24 hours, the surface can be further smoothed or scraped using a suitable plastering robot or scraper. Applications carried out with Multimix Evo must be protected from direct sunlight and, in the event of rain, for at least 24 hours; ensure that the applied product is protected from frost for at least 7 days.
Cleaning
Tools used for application can be cleaned with water before the material hardens; thereafter, cleaning can only be carried out by mechanical removal.
Storage
Multimix EVO should be stored in a dry, sheltered place. It will keep for at least 12 months in its original, unopened bags. It is sensitive to moisture.
