Details

Thick-layer bituminous coating (PMBC) with polystyrene beads, two-component, polymer-modified, for the waterproofing of structures in contact with the ground in accordance with EN 15814 and DIN 18533.

Instructions for use

The surface to be treated must be sound and thoroughly clean. Horizontal surfaces (which will subsequently be backfilled or covered by a screed) must have a gradient of not less than 1 per cent, so as to facilitate the flow of water outwards or towards any collection points. Remove any cement slurry, loose particles and any traces of dust and/or grease and/or release agents. Before applying Black Hydro Poly 2K to various types of masonry substrates (bricks, vibro-compressed concrete blocks, etc.), check that the surface is sufficiently even. Carefully remove any residual bedding mortar protruding from the bricks or blocks and grout any joints that are not intact with Multimix EVO, a fast-setting, fibre-reinforced cementitious mortar, or Restauro R2, a fibre-reinforced, shrinkage-compensated mortar. The concrete surface, on the other hand, must be free of irregularities and pockets of gravel. Such imperfections can be repaired or levelled using the same products mentioned above. Round off any sharp horizontal and vertical edges using suitable mechanical tools and create transition chamfers between the rising wall and the base of the foundation, using Multimix EVO or Restauro R2. Where structural joints are present, these discontinuities must be sealed using PP Tape fixed to the substrate with a flexible cementitious adhesive C2 S1, e.g. Tile 480. After suitably preparing the substrate, apply Asfredol 1000 by roller, brush or spray, diluting it in a 1:2 ratio with water, to ensure even absorption by the substrate and to prevent the formation of bubbles. In the event of direct sunlight, it is advisable to shade the surface or to carry out the work in the early morning or in the evening. The two components of Black Hydro Poly 2K (powder/liquid component) are pre-measured. Mix the thixotropic emulsion (A) at low speed (400 rpm) until it becomes liquid. Then, whilst mixing, add the powder component (B) and mix until the mixture becomes homogeneous and free of lumps (approx. 3 minutes). The mixed product remains workable for approximately 2 hours at +23°C. The material can be applied using a flat or notched trowel, or sprayed using a peristaltic pump. Do not stop work at corners; if work is interrupted, apply a thin, even coat of Black Hydro Poly 2K. When work resumes, overlap the material by 10 cm. Depending on the intended use of the structure, it may be necessary to insert the alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh, Rete SSA, between the first and second coats of Black Hydro Poly 2K. The mesh must be laid onto the first coat whilst it is still fresh; the second coat may only be applied once the first has dried completely. Below is a summary table of thicknesses and consumption rates. When backfilling the foundation trench or applying subsequent protective layers, Black Hydro Poly 2K must be dry (approx. 2 days at +23°C and 50% relative humidity). Drying time may vary depending on weather conditions, temperature and humidity, wind, the thickness applied and the type of substrate. Before backfilling, protect the waterproofed surfaces with suitable drainage layers. Any insulation boards may be applied using Black Hydro Poly 2K with a notched trowel or at 5–8 points per m². Before backfilling, protect the waterproofed surfaces with suitable
draining protective layers.

Storage

Black Hydro Poly 2K remains stable for at least 12 months if kept in its original packaging and stored at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C. DO NOT EXPOSE TO FROST.

Warnings

Do not use Black Hydro Poly 2K in the following cases:

  • when mixed with solvents;
  • at temperatures below +5 °C or above +30 °C;
  • in the presence of rain or damp;
  • for waterproofing surfaces that will remain exposed to UV rays;
  • where there is water pressure from behind;
  • without protective drainage layers;
  • where drainage layers subject the waterproofing to puncture;
  • on prefabricated polymer-modified bitumen membranes.
