Details

Sitol® Infinity is a hybrid polymer-based adhesive and sealant with fast curing and high initial adhesion, for bonding and sealing all typical materials in the marine industry. Also suitable for civil applications as a high-performance universal adhesive and sealant; suitable as an adhesive and sealant in the automotive and caravan industry. It hardens rapidly by reaction with moisture in the air, or with water itself, forming a permanently elastic mass from -30 to +100 °C, which absorbs vibrations and acoustically insulates the glued elements.
Sitol® Infinity, in addition to being certified by IMO (International Marine Organization) as complying with the MED (Marine Equipment Directive), is classified F-EXT/INT-CC according to EN 15651-1, XS3 according to EN 15651-3 and PW-EXT/INT-CC according to EN 15651-4, i.e. non-structural sealant for façade elements, for sanitary environments and for pedestrian walkways, even in areas with cold climates. It is also certified for food contact according to ISEGA Regulation EC 1935/2004.

Instructions for use

The application temperature, both of the environment and of the materials, can vary from +5 °C to +40 °C (ideal temperature between +15 °C and +25 °C). The substrates must be solid, clean and free of oil or dust.

As an adhesive:

  1. Insert the cartridge into the appropriate gun, preferably with reinforced transmission, open it, screw on the nozzle and cut it according to the amount you want to extrude.
  2. Apply the adhesive in a thin layer in sufficient quantity to cover the bonding area, avoiding the incorporation of air.
  3. The material can be distributed with a notched trowel.
  4. Position the materials and bond them before covering the surface.
  5. Thanks to its high thixotropy and initial adhesion, vertical installation does not normally require external mechanical fasteners during hardening (this may be recommended for bonding particularly heavy elements).
  6. In any case, carry out preliminary adhesion tests and prime in case of stressed substrates.

As a sealant:

  1. Stretch adhesive tape along the sides of the joint.
  2. Insert the cartridge into the appropriate gun, preferably with reinforced transmission, open it, screw on the nozzle and cut the tip to obtain an opening proportionate to the size of the joint.
  3. Inject the sealant continuously, avoiding the incorporation of air.
  4. Smooth with a spatula moistened with Smooth within 5 minutes of application and in any case before filming, applying a certain amount of pressure to eliminate any air pockets.
  5. Remove the adhesive tape and smooth again with your hand moistened with Smooth.
  6. Sitol® Infinity can be painted over if necessary (carry out preliminary paint compatibility tests).

Tool cleaning
While the sealant is still plastic, use acetone or another solvent; after hardening, only mechanically.

Storage

Sitol® Infinity must be stored in a dry, cool place. Under these conditions, it will remain stable for at least 12 months. Avoid damp environments, sources of heat and direct exposure to sunlight. Cartridges that have not been completely used up can be stored for approximately 3 months if tightly closed.

Warnings

  • In the case of bonding or sealing applications on painted substrates, carry out adhesion tests.
  • During polymerisation, avoid interaction with alcohol, other solvents and fresh silicone sealants.
