Details

Tile Bond 2K is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin-based mortar for the waterproof and highly chemically resistant laying and grouting of ceramic tiles and natural stone coverings. Tile Bond 2K complies with EN 12004 R2T. Mixing the two components produces a highly workable mixture that allows for easy installation and final washing without difficulty. The two-component epoxy can be mixed with a variety of different colours until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. It is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.

Instructions for use

Preparation of the substrate
As an epoxy adhesive:
The substrate must be solid, clean and stable. Chipboard substrates must be free of tension. Apply the adhesive to the surface with a notched trowel, slide the tile into the adhesive bed and press firmly. For high stress and outdoor applications, use the ‘buttering-floating’ technique: the mixed adhesive is spread with a notched trowel on the substrate and spread with a trowel on the back of the tile, levelling it flush with the reliefs. Provided that the amount of adhesive spread is sufficient, this will result in adhesive-tile contact over the entire bonding surface (an essential condition for the installation of floors and wall coverings exposed to freezing cycles and significant water stress).

Grouting:
The tiles and tile edges must be clean and dry. Clean any debris or glue from the joints. To apply the joint filler, use a hard rubber squeegee (spatula), taking care to fill the joints thoroughly, levelling them diagonally; then remove any excess.

Installation instructions
Check the covering material, especially the surface, to make sure it’s suitable, and follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions. For a uniform colour effect, only use the same batch number. Before grouting, the adhesive used for installation must be dry. Wait at least 24 hours before grouting using the thin-bed method. Mix component A and component B with an electric mixer until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Then transfer to another container and mix thoroughly again. Tile Bond 2K is a thermosetting product. Therefore, it is recommended to transfer the already mixed epoxy resin to a new, clean container. This method will extend the working time.

Tiles and edges must be clean and dry. Clean any debris or adhesive from the joints. Fill the joints with grout using a hard rubber trowel, holding it at 90° parallel to the tile and smoothing it diagonally, leaving as little epoxy grout as possible. Clean the tiles immediately after applying Tile Bond 2K. Grout and clean small areas. Do not attempt to use more than one unit before cleaning the tiles. For larger surfaces, it is recommended to work with several people to simplify application. Use a non-abrasive white nylon sponge, sufficiently wet to remove epoxy resin residues with a circular motion. Be careful not to remove the epoxy resin from the joints. Once the initial epoxy resin on the tile surface is slightly liquid, use a viscose sponge to perform the final cleaning and create smooth joints.
For large surfaces, a grouting machine is recommended. Re-emulsify excess grout with a little water and a suitable sponge within 50 minutes and clean with a sponge or sponge pad. If necessary, use Tile Epoxy Cleaner in a 1:5 ratio with water to re-emulsify.Protect grouted joints with epoxy resin for at least 7 days after grouting (dust, plaster dust, chemical spills and accidental spills). All these factors will affect the colour consistency and final integrity. Final chemical hardening occurs after 7 days at the temperatures indicated in the technical table below.
Ceramic tiles with relief patterns and anti-slip properties are usually grouted with an epoxy gun. Any remaining epoxy resin residue can be removed (after a minimum curing time of 12 hours) within the first 24 hours using pure Tile Epoxy Cleaner.

Cleaning tools
Tools can be cleaned immediately with water or Tile Epoxy Cleaner.

Warnings

Do not use Tile Bond 2K:

  • In the presence of water on the substrate.
  • Not in the correct mixing ratios and/or by diluting it with water, other types of binders or solvents.
  • At temperatures below +10 °C or above +25 °C.
  • For grouting untreated terracotta tiles and/or on substrates that do not guarantee adequate cleanability; in this case, a preliminary test is recommended.
  • For joints subject to movement; in this case, use Torggler silicone sealants.
  • In situations where the intended use involves contact with strong acids and oxidants; therefore, for all uses where the grout may come into contact with profiles, borders, frames or substrates made of brass or copper. In this case, the material may deteriorate and change colour, which could also affect adjacent areas or areas in close contact with the product itself.
  • In situations where the intended use involves exposure to UV rays.
  • There may be colour differences between different production batche

Tile Bond 2K is suitable for laying and grouting ceramic tiles, natural stone coverings and glass mosaics on walls and floors in acid-based and high-stress environments, in swimming pools and therapeutic pools, and in civil, industrial and commercial settings, providing waterproofing and high chemical resistance. Ideal for environments such as bathrooms, showers, kitchens, swimming pools, baths, saunas, spas, garages, shops, warehouses and industrial premises. Its stable consistency allows for easy installation and final washing without difficulty. The two-component epoxy must be mixed until a homogeneous consistency is obtained. It is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
