Details

Livellina 5-30 is a grey, pre-mixed, self-levelling cement mortar based on a mixture of special, quick-setting cements, selected aggregates, synthetic resins and specific additives. After mixing with water, you have a smooth and fluid, self-levelling mix that does not separate out, is easy to apply in thicknesses of 5 mm to 30 mm using a trowel and adheres very well to the substrate. Once hardened, it has good mechanical strength, shock resistance and abrasion resistance and gives a smooth, dust-proof surface. It is totally free of fluidizers based on protein substances and on substances that develop formaldehyde and ammonia. The use of special polymers gives a very low volatile organic compound emission rate. Livellina 5-30 falls under class CT-C30-F7 according to EN 13813.

Instructions for use

Preparation
The surface to be treated must be clean and solid, without any dust, loose material or dirt of any kind. Remove all traces of oil and grease, as well as all traces of adhesives of previous floor coverings (carpets, PVC, parquet, etc.). Surfaces that are too smooth and not sufficiently absorbent should be roughened with a bush hammer or other suitable tool. For surfaces that are highly porous and too absorbent or for magnesia or anhydrite-based surfaces, pretreatment with Tile Primer is required. Wait for the primer to dry completely (that is, when the film applied becomes transparent).

Mixing the product
Mix Livellina 5-30 with approximately 18 – 20 % water (4,5 – 5,0 litres per 25 kg bag), if possible using a low speed drill with mixer attachment. Mix until smooth and free of lumps, with a fluid, selflevelling consistency. Do not exceed the recommended quantity of water. Mixing with more water does not improve the self-levelling properties but will reduce the surface strength of the product when hardened. Allow the mixture to stand for approximately 4 – 5 minutes, then mix again briefly. The mix prepared in this way has a pot life of 30 minutes under normal conditions (at +23 °C). Higher temperatures reduce the pot life, lower temperatures increase it.

Application
Wet the surface to be treated until it is saturated and let the excess water evaporate or remove it with a sponge. Make sure you remove all the surface water. Wetting is not necessary if the surface has been pre-treated with Tile Primer. Pour the mix on the surface to be treated and spread using a paddle. Apply a single coat not more than 30 mm thick. There’s no need to level it mechanically. The mix forms an even surface by itself. To obtain a perfectly smooth surface and prevent the formation of air bubbles, pass a spiked roller over the entire surface. The spikes should be longer than the thickness of the coat applied. For application on large surfaces, follow the joints, if any, in the substrate or create new joints at intervals of not more than 5 metres. If the thickness required in certain parts of the substrate is greater than 30 mm (the thickness of the coat should not exceed 30 mm over large surfaces), fill the deeper areas with a first coat so as to bring the entire surface to be treated to a uniform level. As soon as the first coat is safe to walk on (after approximately 3 hours at 23 °C) apply a coat of Tile Primer in a quantity of 60 – 80 gr/m². Wait for the primer to dry completely (the film applied must become transparent), then apply a second coat of Livellina 5-30 over the entire surface to be treated, again in a maximum thickness of 30 mm. You may clean the tools with water before the mix sets. Otherwise, you must scrape them clean using suitable mechanical instruments.

Storage

Store in a dry, covered place. Unopened in its original bags, the product can be stored for at least 9 months. KEEP DRY.

Warnings

  • Do not apply the product at temperatures below +5 °C or above +30 °C.
  • Do not mix the product with other binders such as cement, hydraulic lime, gypsum, etc.
  • The mix cannot be diluted with water once it has started setting.
  • Do not use the mixed product when it has already started to set. Therefore, always prepare quantities of mix which can be used within the pot life.
  • Do not use the product outdoors or in places which are continuously subject to water or rising damp.
  • Do not apply as floating bed.
